AbstractBackground& Aims:Menarche is an important stage in the development of girls which can predict the adolescent’s puberty process and fertility onset. The changes in adolescence have health consequence not only in adolescence but also over the life-course. Childhood obesity as a common health problem has been observed in both developed and developing countries and its prevalence is continuing to increase. The aim of this study was to identify menstrual patterns and related disorders and also to investigate the relationship between menarche age, menstrual disorders, and (BMI) in high school girls in Urmia.Materials& Methods:In this cross-sectional study 716 adolescent girls aged 14-18 years were selected with multistage sampling from high schools of Urmia. (Sept 2012 to Dec 2013) Participants completed the questionnaire of menstrual pattern characteristics including age at menarche, menstrual cycle length, dysmenorrhea, and the need for pain relief. BMI percentile was calculated and obesity was determined using the CDC’s 2000 BMI-for-age growth charts.Result:The results showed that the average of age, BMI, and menarche age were: 15.66±1.019 year, 22.05±3.91.kg/m2 and 12.87±0.98 year, respectively. The prevalence of overweight and obesity were 13.7% and 8.4%, respectively. A large majority of the subjects (76.1%) had normal, healthy weight. There was a significant association between BMI and the duration of flow, menarche age, menstruation flow, and pain severity (P<0.05).Conclusion:Based on the results, planning and intervention for decreasing the BMI in high school girls can help reduce menstrual disorders. Future studies are required to confirm and complete our results.

Clindamycin, IVIg, and corticosteroids are widely used in medicine. In this study, we represent an unusual case of sinus bradycardia following the administration of these drugs. The patient was a 31-year-old woman who presented a complaint of vaginal bleeding at Shahid Motahhari Hospital, Urmia, Iran. Vaginal examination revealed active bleeding. Laboratory tests reported a positive HCG level. Ultrasonography was performed, and the results showed the presence of retained products of conception. The patient became a candidate for curettage. The initial pulse rate was tachycardia. Laboratory data were reported, platelet count of 16000. corticosteroids and IVIgs were started. Due to the possibility of infectious abortion, Clindamycin and Gentamicin was started. About 24 hours after curettage and 4 hours after starting clindamycin, the patient felt dizziness. Vital signs were obtained that PR: 38-40. We concluded that clindamycin and IVIg can result in severe bradycardia, even in patients with no previous cardiac history, especially when combined with corticosteroids. As a result, we recommend physicians be more cautious when administrating these medications.

Background & Objective: Fertility is important in developing personality, and infertility is a disorder that often bears unintended and sometimes untreatable consequences for couples. As an element of personal features, mental health is often related to marital satisfaction. In this study, the correlation between mental health and marital satisfaction is investigated in infertile couples referring to the Kosar Infertility Center of Urmia, Iran.Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 186 infertile couples referred to Kosar Infertility Center, Iran. They were randomly selected in 2018. The data were collected using General Health Questionnaire and Enrich Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire completed by the participants. In the present study, to conduct data analysis, SPSS version 25.0 was used along with inferential and descriptive statistics. Results: Idealistic distortion had a significant relationship with mental health in infertile couples (P < /em>=0.015). Moreover, leisure activities (P < /em>=0.043) and financial management (P < /em>=0.017) had a significant inverse relationship with mental health in infertile couples. Conclusion: According to the findings, based on the association between marital satisfaction and mental health, mental health can be improved by solving marital problems and enhancing the satisfaction of infertile couples. Hence, the health status of families is improved, denoting the considerable contribution of family counseling centers.

The most common form of structural uterine anomaly is the septate uterus, which has the highest rate of reproductive failure. An uncommon type of development is a septate uterus with cervical duplication and a complete longitudinal vaginal septum. We report a 26-year-old woman with infertility complaints. We performed diagnostic procedures and noticed that the patient had a septate uterus and cervical duplication with a longitudinal vaginal septum. It is an uncommon Mullerian anomaly that does not fit into the current assortment system of Mullerian anomalies by the American Fertility Society (AFS).

Background & Objective: At the beginning of the pandemic COVID-19, most health facilities suspended non-emergency surgeries to ensure emergency care capacity. Due to the need for surgery, and insufficient information about the complications of surgery in these patients, the present study aimed to investigate the outcome of surgeries in patients with COVID-19 in Motahari Hospital in Urmia.Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 112 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who underwent surgery. A Checklist including the following data was extracted from the patients' medical records, symptoms, laboratory tests, and any complications related to surgery up to one month after separate surgery. Results: A total of 6.3% of patients had limited complications due to the incision site after the surgery. The results did not show a significant relationship between age, type of anesthesia, and the type of operation with complications. However, the highest percentage of complications was seen in less than 40 years and emergency surgeries. It was found that patients with a history of diabetes had the highest rate of complications (57.1%), although there was no significant relationship between the underlying disease and complications (P = 0.40). In our study, none of the patients experienced complications such as vascular thrombosis or embolism, respiratory failure, and heart failure, or the need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Overall, 17.9% of patients needed ICU admission (mean 2.16 ± 1.50 days), indicating a higher ICU hospitalization demand. Also, in terms of in-ward hospitalization, patients with complications had a longer hospital stay than uncomplicated patients (7.85 ± 3.36 days) vs. (5.13 ± 1.66), which was not statistically significant (P = 0.88).Conclusion: The results show that surgery is not directly associated with an increased risk of mortality and complications in patients with COVID-19. On the other hand, Underlying diseases, age, and the urgency of surgery are associated with a higher risk for complications than COVID-19.

Background and Objective: One of the most common causes of maternal mortality in the first trimester of pregnancy is ectopic pregnancy (EP). Adenosine deaminase (ADA) plays an essential role in production, maturation and function of lymphoid cells, which is produced in all tissues of the body. Total serum adenosine deaminase levels decrease during normal pregnancy. Considering the importance of early detection of EP, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between adenosine deaminase and EP in pregnant women referred to Motahari Hospital in Urmia from 2017 to 2018.Material and Methods: This study consisted of two groups of patients including patients with EP as a case group and patients with normal pregnancy confirmed by sonography as a control group. The level of βHCG and serum ADA levels were compared in the two groups. P-values less than 0.05 were considered as significant. Results: In this study, 94 pregnant women were enrolled, including 47 patients as control group with normal pregnancy and 47 patients as case group with EP. The mean ADA level in patients with EP and the control group were 12.21±8.17 IU/L and 8.44±6.21 IU/L (P < /em>=0.01), respectively. The mean βHCG level in women with EP was 3215.60±1400.71 mIU/mL. In women with normal pregnancy, it was 11926.96±3408.23 mIU/mL (P < /em>=0.001).Conclusion: High levels of ADA can be helpful in the early diagnosis of EP.
