Background & Objective: Uterine fibroids (UFs) are the most common pelvic tumors among women at reproductive age, affecting women’s quality of life even their confidence with its symptoms. We designed a study to investigate the clinical, laboratory, and imaging characteristics of Iranian women with UF.Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed from April 2016 to September 2022 at Imam Hossein hospital (Tehran, Iran). We included all women with UF referring to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic of Imam Hossein Hospital. Based on a checklist, a research team interviewed the patients to investigate clinical characteristics. Also, we explored laboratory and transvaginal sonography (TVS) findings of all patients.Results: The mean age of 439 studied patients was 44.47±8.80 years (range: 23-81). The most prevalent underlying disease was hypertension (17.1%), followed by thyroid diseases (15.7%) and diabetes mellitus (13.7%). The patients mainly complained of AUB (abnormal menstrual bleeding) (60.0%) and abdominal pain (23.7%). The mean NLR (neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio) and the mean PLR (platelet to lymphocyte ratio) were significantly higher than the normal upper limit (P<0.001). The largest diameter of UF was 49.89±47.92 mm. Most fibroids were located anteriorly (43.1%). The multivariate linear regression model revealed that age (β=-0.931, 95%CI= (-1.657, -0.204), P=0.012) and number of fibroid (β=22.418, 95%CI= (16.360, 28.476), P<0.001) could predict the size of fibroid.Conclusion: Our results showed that NLR and PLR were increased in UF patients. It seems that patient’s age and number of fibroids may be the predictive factors for UF's size.

Introduction: Leiomyomas are tumors of the soft tissues. The incidence of myomas within the perineum is absolutely rare and only a few reports have been made on the matter. We herein report a case of perineal myoma in a virgin woman, which was successfully excised.Case report: We present a 35-year-old virgin woman, with complaint referred to a mass in her perineum which had first exhibited signs 5 years prior to the time she referred to us and had increased in size in a steady manner ever since. The mass had caused no gynecologic, rectal, or urinary symptoms. Clinical examination revealed a painless, mobile mass (6cm*6cm) with [unknown consistency] in the right perineum with extension to the distal of the labium majus of the same side.Conclusion: Treatment of symptomatic leiomyomas relies on surgical excision of the mass. However, the surgical method of choice is a matter of debate in previous studies.

Background & Objective: Adenomyosis is a prevalent gynecological disorder among women with no specified causes. It is characterized by nonspecific symptoms, and can present itself as abnormal uterine bleeding, abdominal pain, menstrual disorders, and the like. Its diagnosis is made based on the pathologic histological examination of hysterectomized samples. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation of adenomyosis with other benign endometrial disorders in hysterectomized samples.
Materials & Methods: In this paper a total of 413 patients who referred to Rouhani Hospital of Babol, form 2012 to 2017, and underwent a hysterectomy surgery with pathological reports confirming the diagnosis of adenomyosis, were studied. After reviewing the medical records, the patients’ data, including their age, weight, number of deliveries, place of residence, and main complaints at the time of referral as well as benign endometrial pathologies correlated with adenomyosis, were examined. Finally, the obtained data were analyzed using statistical tests.
Results: The prevalence of adenomyosis in this study was 21.7%. The patients’ most common complaints were abnormal uterine bleeding (86.4%), dysmenorrhea (39.2%), abdominal pain (31.2%), dyspareunia (21.1%), mass outflow (15%), and pelvic pain (9.4%). In the current study, the benign pathologies correlated with adenomyosis were leiomyoma (52.5%), uterine polyp (11.9%), adenomyoma (5.1%), and hyperplasia (0.5%).
Conclusion: In the present study, the prevalence of adenomyosis was high and abnormal uterine bleeding was the patients’ most prevalent complaint. Moreover, leiomyoma had the highest correlation with adenomyosis.
